Performance Liquid Chromatography Method

The Performance Liquid Chromatography (PLC) method is an official method for determining moisture content. It is a technique that separates and identifies different components of a liquid sample by passing it through a column packed with a stationary phase. The sample is injected into the column, and the different components are eluted (separated) based on their interactions with the stationary phase and the mobile phase (liquid or gas). The eluted components are then detected and quantified using a detector.

Advantages of PLC Method:

  • High accuracy and precision
  • Can be used to determine moisture content in a wide range of samples
  • Relatively simple to operate
  • Can be automated
  • Can be used to determine other components in the sample besides moisture
